How to amend the home page in the Pique theme

    I have setup a new website using the Pique theme, with a banner graphic on all the pages as well as a background graphic.
    The home page template does not show this banner. Can anyone tell me how to edit the homepage template to allow this as it seems to be different from the other pages?

    Hi there,

    Are you speaking of the custom header image? Pique doesn’t display that on the homepage template, no.

    While Pique is one of our themes and we provide support for both the WordPress.com version, and self-hosted version that you’re using, in this forum, we don’t provide support for the type of modification you’re trying to make here.

    Making this type of change will require creating a child theme of Pique, where you can then modify the PHP file for the homepage template to display the custom header image.

    If you’re not familiar enough with PHP and creating WordPress themes to do this yourself, you’ll need to hire a developer to help you with this type of change.

    Thanks very much for your reply, much appreciated.

    I understand the potential for doing an edit with a child theme, which I am trying to avoid the cost of, as this website is for our small village, where we are trying to raise funds to fight a dstrict council planning issue.

    I am hoping to keep the work I have done so far without having to re-design completely in a new theme. Do you have suggestions for an alternate them that would allow me to show the same banner graphic on the Home page as well as the same background graphic?

    I have spent ages trawling through various other themes and those that do allow this, that I have so far seen, have a much thinner banner graphic space.

    Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

    Without having much more information about exactly what kind of site you’re building and what kind of look you’re after, I’m not able to recommend any specific theme.

    Your site is built using the open source WordPress.org software, and there are over 4000 themes available in the theme directory on WordPress.org. That theme directory comes with filters that let you narrow down the available options by the features you’re looking for.

    There are currently around 2600 themes there that support both a custom header image, and a custom background:

    I recommend you start with that, and add additional filters for the layout, subject, and features you’re looking for to narrow it down further.

    If you prefer to use one of the WordPress.com themes you have access to via the Jetpack plugin, you can similarly use the available filters on our theme showcase to narrow down the results. To see all the themes we have available that support custom headers and backgrounds, you can use this:
