How to archive?

I am having a lot of trouble setting up an Archive page on WordPress.com. I just want to be able to move old posts into an Archive section on a new page (and no longer have them appear on my main page). I have not been able to find a way to do this – is there one? Thank you.

When we publish posts the software automatically archives the posts. We do nothing. We cannot move theme the way you describe.
