How to avoid drop down menu
-
Hi.
I’ve finally understood the concept of a custom menu, and I have now created the pages I want to show in the menu bar. In the page “Recipes” I would like to have a list of different recipes that links to new pages with the actual recipe. I’ve figured out that I can create a new page that contains the recipe and I know how to link to it but… How do I avoid that the page is shown in the menu bar? It should only be possible to enter it through the link.I hope someone can help me – I’m a beginner:).
Thank! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The static page you have created created will not automatically display a list of posts with recipes in them. Unless you intend to add each post title link manually to it and continue to manually update it that page is useless. What’s critical is:
(1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/(2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories, Tags pages and Archives pages. You can create a custom menu and add the categories pages automatically provided by the software (not static pages that you create) into the custom menu.
Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.Create a category for Recipes and assign it to the posts that have recipes in them. Create a custom menu. Add the Recipes categories to the custom menu.

Thank you timethief.
I’m not sure I explained myself well though…My idea is to have two different parts in my blog. One that is a regular blog with post on the frontpage and on the side I would like to have static pages with recipes. These recipes will not be added as posts as the focus of my blog is not primarily the recipes. I know I could choose to add them as posts, but then they will appear on the frontpage and I would like to avoid that.
Do you have any advice one how to come around this?I hope I’m being clear. Thank you again for your help.

I just figured it out:)! My mistake was that I had forgotten to activate my custom menu which was why the new pages kept showing up in the menu bar.
Thank you for your time and the energy you spend on this forum! -
Hi again,
I have communicated with you in two threads about this now and I do understand you. You cannot change the way any blog functions.1. There is no limit on how many pages and/or sub-pages you can create.
2. I would not do that. I would register another another blog for recipes, and then include a custom link to the recipe blog in the custom menu in the blog you have now.
