How to avoid pingbacks from my own site?

  I am cross-linking to other blogposts within my own blog. But these are appearing as pingbacks, and overwhelming my Comments widgets and other listings.

  Is this usual? Isn’t there something like “Related Posts” functionality like in WordPress.org to make a list of related posts after a relevant post?
