How to begin anew?

  • Unknown's avatar

Okay, when I click on GET STARTED nothing happens (won’t highlight). I see I’m listed as “landmart” on upper right corner of this page. This has to do with the fact that the fellow hosting my book’s website used WordPress to create a blog for me that is basically an extension of the site. I see that when I highlight “landmart”–“threeatthecenterofrage” displays (my book’s title). I want to create a new premium political site with WordPress–in this case using: Chronicle, with a new domain: MartinJRyan’sAmerica.com, but I can’t seem to escape the “landmart thing to get started. Words of wisdom would be appreciate. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Try logging into WordPress.com and then clicking “my blogs” at the top. Then look for the “create another blog” button. Click it and follow the instructions to create a new site.

    Hi rootjosh–
Thanks, you’ve pointed me in the right direction. What I want to do is begin with a premium theme–in this case, Chronicle, which is listed at $79. I’m not sure how to accomplish this. I see Custom is listed at $99, so that must be different. Do I have to begin with a free theme and then upgrade? Help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Log into your WordPress.com site’s dashboard and go to Appearance–> Themes. It can take a second or two for the page to load completely, but when it does, there will be a search box. Search for the name of the theme you want (Chronicle) and when it appears, roll your mouse over the thumbnail and you will see a “purchase” button. Click it and follow the instructions.

Let me know if you have any trouble.

  • And yes, WordPress.com Premium is different.

    WordPress.com Premium includes:

    • A Free Domain
    • Custom Design
    • VideoPress
    • Space Upgrade
    • Ad-Free

For more info, you can refer to this page: http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/pro-bundle/

Despite the similar name, WordPress.com Premium doesn’t include any of the Premium themes available here:

    Premium Themes

Does that make sense? Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks but you’re responding to an old post. I’ve already purchased a Chronicle theme and I’m waiting for answers to an additional question.

  • I did not see any additional questions on this post.

I will look into your history and see if I can track down the newest one. To eliminate confusion, I will lock this one from further replies once I find it.

  • I’m waiting for answers to an additional question.

Hmmm, on second thought, I am not going to lock this thread as I cannot find any additional recent support threads associated with your account.

Just to make sure you get your question answered, why don’t you ask it again here? I’ll be happy to help.

Okay. Actually, this is the third time I’m submitting this:
Totally lost. I bought a premium theme (Chronicle), a domain name: (MartinJRyansAmerica.com) and gave the blog a title. When I clicked on MY BLOGS I expected to see my colorful Chronicle theme. Instead, basically a blank with a side bar inviting me to chooses options. I clicked “Appearance” to insert a banner header, which I did. I previewed it expecting to see the inserted banner appear as part of my Chronicle theme. (I intend to have several banner headers, for them to display on auto) But no, the preview just showed my banner with the title in a rather ugly font (can I change fonts?) on a white ground. I expected to see my theme intact waiting for me to tinker with it (replacing the pictures and text with my own, etc.) I really need help from smarter people than me. How do I reach my colorful theme to use as a guide? Thanks.
P.S. Notice my forum “lost-post” insists that it refers to threeatthecenterofrage.wordpress.com.
And this is not true. That is my other blog, which is attaching itself on auto like glue. My current post refers to martinjryansamerica.com, the blog I’m trying to create. Thanks for any help.

  • First things first.

I am not seeing anything at martinjryansamerica.com. I am also not seeing any record of it as a domain that has been registered at WordPress.com or anywhere else.

You do have a WordPress.com site named http://martinjryansamerica.wordpress.com

When I visit http://martinjryansamerica.wordpress.com, I see that it is using the Chronicle theme and see a banner header made up of political imagery. What do you see when you visit http://martinjryansamerica.wordpress.com directly?

As an aside, a good resource if you are new to WordPress.com is http://learn.wordpress.com/. Lots of good info on getting started.
