To change blog visibility to Private go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 .
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/We cannot block or delete subscribers from public blogs. Anyone and everyone can access public blogs and that’s indeed what the public designation means. However, please read this about public blogs that become private blogs > Blog Privacy and Subscribers > http://wpcommaven.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/blog-privacy-and-subscribers/

P.S. I forgot to note that after you set the blog to private you can have Staff remove any unwanted followers names from your subscribers lists.

Thank you. I am seriously thinking of turning it private, but do I understand this correctly, that if I send invitations to my current (invited) followers, they will have to open a wordpress account to continue viewing? i do not want to give them any editing or admin power, just to follow.

THank you. My blog is private. Would you please remove or block
Don Charisma from following.. thank you so much!! -
I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Dear Druesome, Thistimethisspace and others,
I have now asked friends to register so that they can follow the blog. But when they register they are asked to create their own blog on wordpress.com. We must be doing something wrong, we just want them to follow, not to have to create a blog themselves. I am a new blogger and don’t want to lose my follower friends. Can you help explaining it fairly simply?
thank you -
They are doing something wrong. They only need to create an account. The biggest, shiniest button on the page says Create a Blog, but there’s a print link beside it that says Just Give Me An Account and that’s what they need to click on.
