How to block unnatural traffic/bots to a particular page on my blog? It consumes a lot of CPU and cr
-
This particular blog post on my wordpress blog suddenly receives unnatural amount of hits by bots that have different IP addresses and no names. I couldn’t get any detail about the bots in my hosting provider’s cpanel. Here’s the link : http://makeupandbeautyhome.com/2016/04/zenith-nutrition-vitamin-b6-dietary-supplement-review.html?share=email&nb=1
Though I removed the post now (it shows a 404), the bots still visit the post – like hundreds to thousand times in a minute, repeatedly and it causes a severe downtime of my wordpress site! The CPU usage is hitting skies and I’m losing the traffic already, due to the frequent 500 internal server errors that show up. I’m almost certain that these bots are the cause since I’ve made no changes to my site. When I contacted Hostgator, they suggested getting in touch with WP.
What should I do in order to prevent these bots from visiting the page? Should I re-publish the page and password protect it or find the bots and block them through adding scripts to my core file? (Note: I’ve deleted the page and removed it from the Google index by using my GWT already.)
Please assist! Thanks in advance!

Hi there, your site at .makeupandbeautyhome.com appears to be hosted at HostGator and is using a standalone WP (org) install, so we won’t really be able to help you resolve this issue here in the technical support forums for WordPressdotcom sites.
Standalone WP (org) and WordPressdotcom (where we are) are different entities with different documentation and support forums; more information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
You can find all the support information for sites using the WP (org) software at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and at https://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums, you can register one on that page.
You can also approach HostGator’s support for assistance with this problem.
Best wishes.
