How to build a website on WordPress.com?

  I was trying to build a website on WordPress.com. But instead it created a blog site. Not what I wanted. I followed the “Create a Website” prompts, but ended up with a blog. How do I just build a website?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  WordPress is primarily developed as blogging software, but it is a powerful system that can do much more than just blogging. What kind of website are you wanting to create? You’ll probably want to be using pages, which are static content (more on the difference between posts and pages). If you’re not creating a blog then you should change your front page from blog posts to some sort of welcome page, and use custom menus to give your visitors some navigation around your site.

  A “blog” is a “web site”

  Why not do as I do? I just tell people I have a web site – as long as they can find the info they want, they don’t really care what it is called

  to some people a “web site” is one that is page based and sort of static and dull – bit of advice – Posts search better and new content attracts search engines and visitors
