How to bulk delete comments on my WordPress website??!!
-
I have over 80,000 spam comments on my website and have recently gotten notices on my email every day to approve them. I want to bulk delete all of the comments, but not interested in paying for Jetpack to do that! I’d also like help to stop all future comments. The ones I already have are fine, but want to disable that feature. Please help!!!

Hi there!
You don’t need Jetpack to bulk manage spam comments on your site but, since we’re not experts on sites that are not hosted on WordPress.com, we can’t help you here.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so we can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:
You can look for help at the community forums here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.

Thanks Fresatomica… YES, my site is built on WordPress.com… so can you please help me with my original question? I want to bulk delete all the spam on my website… over 80,000 at this point!! My website is lifeonmaui.com so you can check it out if you wish.

I’d also like to stop any future comments from getting posted. Please help me achieve this! The ones I already have are great, but I’d like to disable that feature.

That site is hosted on GoDaddy, not on WordPress.com. Please post to the community forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ or check out this page: https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-quickly-batch-delete-spam-comments-in-wordpress/ – it’s from a few years back but it may be helpful.

Would there be any value in contacting GoDaddy customer service about this problem? I probably don’t have an account with WordPress.org I imagine, if GoDaddy is hosting the account. Can you clarify this please?

I just checked and seems that I have a WordPress.com sign in with username and password from 2018. I’ve had the website much longer than that and it’s always been hosted by GoDaddy. Why would I have that account with WP? I’m confused about this… please help me understand. Much appreciated!!

I don’t think so, this is a matter of how WordPress works, it does not depend on your host.
It is just WordPress.com that works differently. But, AFAIK you should be able to go to WP-admin>Feedback>Spam and empty it with just one click – Empty Spam. If the comments are not in the Spam folder, you will want to manually choose which comments to remove and use the Bulk Actions to trash them.Again, you can find more information on https://wordpress.org/support/

To clear up any further confusion, there is WordPress.com and WordPress.org, and they are two different entities.
We, WordPress.com, are a cloud-based platform where we manage WordPress sites, whereas WordPress.org is stand-alone software that you can download and self-host with any other hosting.
You can find more details about WordPress.com and WordPress.org on this support page:

I hope that helps :)

I appreciate all of your help and understand what you’re saying. In the last response you said this… and the web address you’re pointing to doesn’t seem right… is it? Also I don’t know what AFAIK means:

Hi there,
Also I don’t know what AFAIK means:
It stands for as far as I know.

You didn’t answer the question regarding “In the last response you said this… and the web address you’re pointing to doesn’t seem right… is it?” – You should be able to go to WP-admin>Feedback>Spam and empty it with just one click – Empty Spam.

Please contact your hosting provider or create a WordPress.org account and post in their support forum.
The version of WordPress we’re using on our platform is slightly different than the one you’re using and therefore we cannot help you.
