  This will extend the black background the full width.

  #navbar, .navbar {
  background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #000000;
  }

  Given how the menu is structured in this theme, I’m afraid that is about the best we can do. There are some less-than-desirable tricks that can be used, but they tend to blow up if someone has their browser zoom level set to anything but default, or if they happen to have set a different default font size in their browser preferences.
