How to change absolute to relative paths after I have built my site in absolute

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi All,

I built my site on WAMP server. I have uploaded it to my site in the following location:

    http://www.mydomainname.com/wordpress

Some of the links between pages don’t work because I made the whole site with absolute paths instead of relative.

When the site goes live I will need to change the URL to this:

    http://www.mydomainname.com/new_directory

So while I am still building it I need to be able to change the site page links throughout to

    /new_directory

What should I do? How do I build the site with relative links instead of absolute? How do I change the links I have already created that are absolute?

I am not good with coding PHP so if there is a way to avoid doing this then that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Jack

We provide support only for blogs being hosted WordPress.COM and not for WordPress.ORG software installs. You are posting to the wrong support forum.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
