How to change already-uploaded images?
-
Whenever I want to update an image on my blog, I try re-uploading the image with the same name. Everything -appears- to work, but I notice that the image doesn’t really update: the old image keeps on displaying in the blog post. I’ve even tried using the “delete” option to get rid of the original, then upload the new image…but that doesn’t work either.
The only thing that works is to rename the image before uploading, upload the new image under the new name, and change the blog post to reference the new name. This works…but, as you can see, this is a real pain.
Does anyone know how to update an image without having to go through this hassle?
Thanks.

you have to rename this. maybe you can get creative and think of something a little different. then it will work properly.

As it stands now, it’s a bug. (If you “delete” an image, yet still see it in a blog posting, that’s not right.) Where should WordPress bugs get posted?
Thanks.

Images are on mulitple servers and there is a chance, depending on server loads, that it may take a little bit for it to disappear.

It’s a long standing image caching problem. If it’s really, really important to you to get that deleted image removed, then use the link and contact support during working hours.
Otherwise, you already have the work around.
