How to change appearance in reader

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I am using the Olsen theme and recently published a post using preformatted text. I edited CSS to change the font and background color (and made some changes for character spacing within the post, also). On the site, my post looks exactly as I want it to. But, when viewed in the WordPress Reader, it looks like none of my changes have been applied (font is wrong, background color is gray, etc.). Is there a way to edit style so it is also reflected here?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

I don’t think there is a way to change the font and background color in Reader for your posts. It won’t look good if all the posts from different websites are styled differently in the reader.

Depending on the content of your post the Reader will automatically use one of the cards to display your post. You can follow this link to have an idea of how your post will look in the reader if it has videos, gallery etc.

    Hope that helps :)

  • Hi there,

CSS customization only applies to how your site itself appears, yes. You cannot use any custom styling for your posts in the Reader, as the Reader does not load your site’s theme or any custom CSS you’ve added to your theme.
