How to change blog address without creating a new blog losing likes/follows?

    There is an option to change the address of a blog within the dashboard. However, after going through the steps to do this, what happened is it ended up creating a whole new blog, and just moved content. This basically acheived what I needed, though because it created a new blog, the comments/likes/follows/stats are all gone. It was my understanding that this change would only change the address of the current blog.
