How to change defaults for H1 H2 H3 and H3 styles

I have just started with WordPress.Com and would like to configure the H1, H2, H3 and H4 styles to be specific different sizes and colours to work throughout a site

I can see from here (Appearance > Editor > Styles Panel) that it is possible to change a Heading style, but not individual H1, H2 styles.

Is this possible through the Styles Panel or somewhere else?

Any help would be gratefully received.

  • Hi! Typically in the Styles panel, it should let you select individual heading sizes in order to change the styles for them:

However if you’d like to change the colours of the individual heading sizes, that’s actually located in the Colours section of the Styles panel:

In case of need, we do also have guides here on WordPress.com that might be useful for you – for example, this is our Styles guide.

I hope that helps, if you do have any other questions let us know!

Thank you for your response – very heplpful.

When I change the text colour – the heading style does not change colour.

Any further help would be gratefully received.

  • Hi there,

Can I see this on your homepage?  Or is it a specific place I need to look at?

I was not able to see H4 headings in use on your site so if you can share a link to a good page to view those, or a link to the view you are showing in your screenshot it will help us to take a look. Thanks for pointing it out!

    Thank you for the response.

Here are a couple of pages:

  • Hey there,

Many thanks for providing those details and those pages.

I’ve taken a look and it looks like the headings in use on those pages are H3, not H4.

That said, I switched them to H4 and I can’t see the style options being reflected when that change takes place.

It looks like this could be a bug that’s on our radar and I’ve added this report to the the issue we have open internally.

My advice going forward would be to change the colours using the editor, inside of the page itself, as seen here:

I hope this helps, and we appreciate your patience while we work on that!
