How to change email address on primary account? How to delete secondary account?

I wanted to change the email address on my existing WordPress.com account, but I somehow managed to accidentally create a second account instead. Can someone help me delete the second account? Also, how to change the email address on my primary account? That option appears to be disabled.

You’ll need to change the email on the new mistaken account to be something other than the email you want to use. Once that is done, you should be able to change the email for your old account to be the correct email.

Can the mistaken account be deleted entirely? I would like to do that as soon as possible please. I really don’t want or need two accounts floating around!
When I go to the “Edit My Profile” page on the good account, I see that I did successfully change my email address to the correct address yesterday. What I cannot change is my username on the profile page because that option is grayed out. It just happens that, in my case, my current username is my personal email address and I would like it to be a plain old username instead (rather than an email address). The reason I’d like to do this is because I’m trying to clearly separate my business world from my personal world online and that’s difficult to do when some of your business stuff is tagged with your personal email address. It’s just super confusing! Please I hope you can help!

Hello there! Because you’ve already created a new account, we have to fix the issue in a slightly roundabout way.
You will transfer your site to your newly setup account (the one with the correct email address) by following the instructions below.

Go to the preferred email address box and confirm that you accept the transfer. Once that process is complete, your new account will “own” the site. then, you can adjust the contact information as you’d like it displayed.
