How to change footer on blog

    Hiya,

    On my wordpress blog in the footer it says Blog at WordPress.com exept in russian(this is done on purpose)

    My question is can you change what it says in the footer? or modify what is in the footer?

    Im not sure If I posted this in the right place, so please correct me if I did something wrong :)

    Sorry here @ WP.com I don’t believe you will be able to access the Footer files.

    You cannot access the footer information and alter it in any way, shape or form without a paid CSS upgrade. That upgrade is not recommended to those who lack CSS editing experience and cannot work independently as there is not Taff support for learning CSS.

    Setting that matter aside, wordpress.com Staff have made it clear that they do not wish to have the “Blog at WordPress.com ” removed. As they offer you a free blog they presume that you will want to let all your readers know that they can also have a free blog at wordpress.com.

    CSS editing can be used to cover the display or to display none. Stff have requested that we don’t do that.

    In some themes (including Ocean Mist) you can change the footer via html in a text widget – see here:

    I want to remove the footer on my blog, and i paid for the CSS upgrade but am not a CSS person. Given the cost for the whole thing so far, I really expect this should be “out of the box configurable” and not something I should need a programmer for.

    If someone wants to charge me a reasonable fee to simply remove the footer text from the blog, please let me know.

    BTW, I do not want nor care about the “template” credit; the template I am using is so basic and bland nobody should care. I am using my own graphics as design elements….

    Oh, forgot to mention that i’m paying extra for “no ads” and that link at the bottom of my page is essentially two ads…therefore I should not be paying extra.

    If this was a free blog on my hosting plan I could see it…but I really think that paying customers should be able to make any site look like their own.

    $30 for no ads
    $10 for domain
    $30 for custom css
    $50 for storage
    $120 a year is not cheap. I should not have ANY ads on my blog….Am I just missing something?

    So I found an old post that says

    #footer {
    display:none;
    }

    and that thankfully removes the advertising links. But I guess I should be able to have my own.

    You’re using your own graphics but you didn’t code the thing. That’s why the credits are there for.

    If you create something and give if for free, the least the person who’s using it is to give credit where credit is due. Of course, no one can force you to do it; It’s just ethical.

    I’m sure you wouldn’t take it so kindly if someone used any of your graphics without giving you credit. If you did, though, that’s just you and because you wouldn’t mind not being given credit for something you created it doesn’t mean others would too.
