How to change (for free) my DOMAIN NAME for my WordPress website

  I am an Artist trying to CHANGE my DOMAIN NAME (for free) of my WordPress website.

  The DOMAIN NAME I used when I set up a WP website has expired.
  So, I want to change the URL so that it reflects my new DOMAIN NAME.

  So far, I’ve deleted all relevant content from my WP website and plan to re-post it after I register my new DOMAIN NAME, following WP’s instructions at ‘dashboard’.

  Am I going about this the right way (to avoid costs of changing my URL and to protect the content I posted under my former, expired Domain Name?

  What is the URL of this expired domain?

  Hey there,

  You can change your blog address by going to My Blogs, and clicking the Change Blog Address link that appears when you hover over the address you want to change:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/

  Note that you have the option to choose your user name to match the new blog address. If you choose this option, you will not be able to revert back to the original username, and it can affect profile URLs for other services such as Gravatar or IntenseDebate.

  You canceling your custom domain or changing you WordPress.com URL does not affect the content on your site.
