Hello, from reading the support pages and past posts in this forum, seems that I need to post here to have staff point my A record to a different IP address. Would someone on staff please reply for the next step?

Exactly where are you pointing the blog to please that is saying the IP address is required? If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. Follow the Update Nameservers instructions.

Hello, want to point to hosting outside of wordpress. While several record types can be updated in the DNS, the A record cannot. This is stated in wordpress support and in another thread in the forum. The staff has to make the change to the A record.

Hi @bbvba
At WordPress.com we offer the ability to change name server settings to allow you to point your domain elsewhere, but do not offer some domain settings, such as custom address records (A records) and other advanced methods.
To make a domain setting change like that, I would recommend transferring your domain to full-service registrar. They would be better suited for that kind of domain management, and likely offer tools for you to easily make changes like that yourself.
You can find transfer instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/
The process is pretty trouble-free, especially if you use one of our recommended registrars, but if you have any trouble, let me know and I will be happy to help.
