How to change my full posts on the home page to summary posts
-
I want to display just the summary of the latest posts on the front page, but instead it displays the full text. How do I change this? I changed the option in the Reading Settings from ‘full text’ to ‘summary’ but it stil displays the full text of posts.
In coming across a similar program, I saw someone say to replace
<?php the_content(); ?>
with
<?php the_excerpt(); ?>
in my home.php or index.php . <–But I don’t know where to find that to replace it? Can someone tell me where? I definitely don’t understand website code like some people, but on Tumblr I’ve replaced certain codes with others, etc. I just don’t know where to find that on WordPress. Help?
Same thing for my Archives. If someone clicks on my posts for October (for eg) in my archives, I want those be shown in summary too, but they’re not.
I’d appreciate if someone could give me a step-by-step process or explanation, thank you!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
