How to change my picture on the first page of my site, and/or how to remove words underneath the picture?

  My lovely picture is on the first page of my site. There are words written underneath the picture. I want to remove the words leaving the picture, but will gladly remove the picture if it is the only way to get rid of the words.

  I am not able to locate the widget or whatever I need to access the photo and the words underneath.
