How to change nameservers?

  Hi guys,

  I have purchased a domain name at http://www.generi-city.net and am ready to purchase the domain mapping upgrade. However, I have problems changing the nameservers on my domain seller website at http://www.nettica.com. I have added 3 new nameservers as instructed on the tutorial here.
  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  But I receive an error that the nameservers have not been changed on wordpress’s dashboard. Does anyone have any experience changing nameservers on http://www.nettica.com? Or have a solution to my problems? Thanks!

  You say you are ready to purchase the upgrade. Until the purchase is complete, your nameserver changes will not go through.

  According to the support documentation, with an existing domain name, you have to first change the nameservers and only at that point in time will WordPress.com let you purchase the domain mapping upgrade:

  Obviously you are having difficulties changing the nameservers at Nettica.com. You might want to contact them directly for assistance:
  http://www.nettica.com/Support/Default.aspx

  The error which I receive is part of the process which leads up to the upgrade purchase. I am unable even to complete that process.

  The name servers are changing to WordPress.com: http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/generi-city.net

  If the Domain Mapping Upgrade on your WordPress.COM account is blowing up then probably contact staff for help: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  Yes that’s right, I’ve already contacted them but just wondering if anyone here has similar experiences with nettica.com to hasten the process of more rounds of back and forth troubleshooting.

  I hadn’t thought of going to whatsmydns.net like auxclass did. I just did a regular WHOIS lookup and only saw the nettica.com nameservers.

  Try completing the upgrade again and if you’re still having trouble, please contact staff as he says.

  That’s fantastic, does that mean the nameservers changes have gone through successfully?

  The name servers are changing – looks like you did good at the register – it can take a while to reach the far corners of the internet – 24 to 72 hours –

  The name-servers have to be done first as WordPress.com does some error checking when you do the Domain Mapping to make sure the name points to them –

  You are part way there – the thing about Domain Mapping and any internet stuff is that literally a period ” . ” in the wrong place or left out can crash the whole thing.
