How to change number of posts on post page

Hi,
I’m using Twenty Ten and want to have ONLY the most recent post on my home post. I want my other posts to be on the right sidebar as “recent posts”, which they are. I changed settings > reading > blog page show at most to “1”, but this doesn’t do anything. There is still more than one post on my home post. Please help.

Infinite Scroll is a new feature on Twenty Eleven and Twenty Ten. The abilty to control the number of post on the front page of your blog can be restored Note that you will only see the option to disable it if you have setup footer widgets on your Appearance → Widgets page. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/twenty-eleven-theme-2-questions?replies=4#post-820346
Infinite Scroll is now an option when footer widgets are present. You can find the option under Settings → Reading when two conditions are met:
1. You are using a theme that supports infinite scroll
