How to change or remove the words listed under each footer in footer widget?

  • Unknown's avatar

I chose the Karuna theme for my site in WordPress.com and the site is awandereratheart.com

Currently, there are 4 footer titles in the footer widget at the bottom of my site. There are words listed under each footer title like, for example, “First blog post” and “Uncategorized”.

How do I change these words or categories such that when viewers click on this it will direct them to my posts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

What you see there is your theme’s default widgets. If you add your own widget those will go away. To do that go to the Customizer:

Click on My Sites, then click the Customize button next to Themes. Then click on Widgets, and click on one of the footer areas.

Click Add Widget and select the widget you want. For categories, you need the Categories widget.

The way the category widget works is that one widget shows ALL your categories. Once you publish a post in a new category, the new category will automatically appear in the widget. But it’s not possible to have only one category of your choosing appear in the widget. If you add the widget three times, each instance of the widget will show all categories with posts published in them.

To add a post to a category, create or edit a post and click the Categories and Tags option. There you can add a post to one or more categories.

You can find information on all the different widgets here:
