How to change posts on homepage to title only?

    Hi! I’m new to WordPress, and a complete HTML / CSS newbie.

    I’m using the Penscratch theme, but I want to change the homepage to display only the title (or title/feature image, or title/feature image/one paragraph of the post). At the moment, it’s displaying all of every post.

    I upgraded to a premium account, hoping to remedy this in CSS, but I’ve just discovered that because I upgraded to a .com account, and not a .org account, I can’t use plugins. Help! I’m so confused! Is there any way I can accomplish this?

    There are a couple of ways to change the front page of your site to show only titles or a shortened post, neither of which require you to upgrade to Premium

    For shortened front page posts you can insert the “More” tag after the first paragraph. This will insert a link after the first paragraph on the front page only which will say “read more”. Clicking that link brings the reader to the top of the next paragraph in your single post view. See here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/

    For only a list of post titles, you could swap your current front page with a static front page and either use the Archives shortcode or the Display Posts shortcode.

    Do note that changing the front page of your site with one of the above shortcodes will not change how posts are displayed on your site’s built-in pages: blog page, Author page, Search results, Archives, Categories and Tags pages.

    If you wish to retain your custom domain/mapping but want to request a refund for the rest of the the Premium bundle, please add the MODLOOK tag to the Tags section of this forum thread for Staff assistance.

    Someone posted on the other thread about the “more” tag, which solved my problem. I’ve bookmarked those threads you’ve provided, just in case I need them another time. Thank you very much!

    I will definitely be wanting to keep my custom domain/mapping, but I’m not sure about the premium bundle. I might have a play for a week or so, and if I don’t think it’s what I’m needing, I’ll add that tag to this thread.

    If you do decide to go the refund route, with the exception of the custom domain name and mapping (which can only be refunded up to 48 hours after purchase), you’ve got 30 days from the date of purchase to play with the rest of the Premium Bundle. https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/
