How to change site title color in header

  • Unknown's avatar

    My blog is apickytraveler.com. I have selected the plane theme. Attempting to follow instructions to change color of site title which appears over a header image I have uploaded. Default seems to be white. When I select colors, the only color the title text will change to is gray, which is not aesthetically pleasing. I do not see a color select button either as per instructions. Is this not do-able in the theme I have chosen?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    Please go to Appearance → Customize → Color in your Dashboard. Once you are there you can choose a color that you prefer.

    Let me know if you have any questions with this!

    When I go to Appearance – Customize then Color, I get 5 circles, 4 of which have colors in them as I have selected for Links, header & footer, main accent & accent (don’t know what main accent & accent refer to). The first circle has an ‘X’ thru it. What is the circle for?

    One more thing – if I hide the header image that I made of some of my photos. the header become the color I selected for header/menu/footer & header type is white for the blog name & a lighter blue for the tagline.

    That circle doesn’t apply for your theme. It will change per theme. The second from the top will change the menu color as seen here (set it as pink just as an example):

    Yes this is true. Do you want to change the color? Just let me know and we can change it if we edit CSS. I can provide you the code for that.

    I have swapped out some photos in my header image that now make the blog name show up better, even though the type is white & I would prefer black or very dark blue. Also tag line is a light blue gray. Can’t seem to change color of that either.

    You can do this via CSS. Go to Appearance → Customize → CSS and add the following:

    .site-title a, .site-title a:hover {
    	color: CSS COLOR VALUE;
    }

    .site-description {
    	color: CSS COLOR VALUE;
    }

    Where is says, CSS COLOR VALUE, please add the CSS color value of the color you want to use. You can find the color values here:

    http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_colorpicker.asp

    Once you get that an example of this would be (don’t forget the # in front):

    .site-title a, .site-title a:hover {
    	color: #ccc;
    }

    I do. It seems like to customize CSS, I have to have Premium or Business upgrade. Is that true? I do not have extra $$$ at this time to upgrade.

    It looks like you already purchased Premium last month for the site:

    apickytraveler.com

    So you should be able to add the CSS I provided you.

    I finally just tried another theme – mystique. It seemed to work for the look I want. With this theme, the header in white shows up better in white that the darker color I was trying for in plane theme.

    For now, I guess my problem with header color is solved. Thanks for being so patient with me. My web page design skills are rusty, especially CSS.

    Sounds good.
