How to change the Navigation position

    I am creating a WP site for the first time through Godaddy. I chose a theme and it looks good but when i started customizing the navigation bar I ran into trouble. I have several items on the nav bar so it is stacked to a second row. That is fine but instead of just keeping the nav bar where it is and the second row being below it, it adjusted the top bar to be in a higher position so it starts covering the header photo. I am new to all of this but I did install Firebug which helped me see where I could change the color of the bar where it would not allow me to in the Godaddy template. I am assuming changing the position must be somewhere aroudn there but I have not been able to locate it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
