how to change the number of columns in the photo gallery in 2014 theme

  the gallery has a drop down menu which gives an option of 9 columns. I change the number from 3 to available 9, save the changes, but 3 columns are still there. Trying to reduce the number to 2 does not work either. Has anyone had this problem? Thank you.

  After updating the gallery you’ve got to also update the page, post, or portfolio that it’s in. Did you do that?
