how to change URL to pfd files

  Hi

  I got some text links straight from my menu linked to pdfs, but at the moment the link to the pdf is something like. http://bigstickphotography.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/getting-started-with-your-personal-statement1.pdf, can I change I to some more simple URL?

  Also I would like to know how to link an email. (this appears at the bottom of each page)

  Hi Joseph. No, the URLs for any media (image, PDF, etc.) is always like that, regardless of having domain mapping. Of course, you’re free to use an URL shortener, but personally, if I was visiting your website, I’d feel more reassured to have the full URL, as it tells me what I’m clicking through.

  In regards to the second question: you are asking how to put a link to your email address? I discourage that, as it could help spambots that harvest email addresses. Instead you could put an image with your email address on it or use a contact form.
