How to change URL to reflect new/correct title?
-
How do I change the URL from a post where I changed the title to something else?
The above is what the URL currently reads, but I don’t want that! I changed the post title to: ISRAEL: THE BEGINNING … IN THE NEGEV. This is what I want the URL to be.
Keep in mind that I will write a post and mark it Private, until I’m ready to finish it later. But when I do that the “system” thinks I’ve actually published the post, which maybe I do and don’t realize it. So I need to somehow create a draft WITHOUT publishing it so I can work on it when I have more time. Without screwing up the URL/Slug.
The problem is that I don’t see anywhere that says save DRAFT where it’s not published with a fixed date and a slug?? Is the slug what determines the URL?
Also, can you tell me if I actually need to write an “excerpt” and, if so, would that be what I would call “teaser copy?”
Please advise. I really need help with this. Some of this issue may be related exclusively to my premium them (Gemma) but not all, which is why I’m posting this in the general WP forum.
Thank you for any help you can give with this! I’m a reluctant techy at best, so please use “for dummies” lingo. Thanks. :)

All sites with upgraded plans include access to live chat support. https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/ https://wordpress.com/help/contact At times when all operators are busy or unavailable, you’ll be able to get through to private email support.
-
You can change the URL of the post changing the slug, inside “More Options” under the “Post Settings” menu.

@jogosdomariobrosblog
There are several longtime Volunteers like me, without any Staff wannbe aspirations, who can provide such instructions, but Staff have requested that we redirect those with upgraded accounts to Live Chat Support so that is what I did.

Ok, thanks all. I didn’t realize I had that Live Chat option. Because I have a Premium theme? I actually have two and ever knew this. Hmm.

Hi there,
Your Premium Plan on gobeyondtravelblog.wordpress.com includes live chat support via the contact form, not the theme.
@jogosdomariobrosblog, thanks for trying to help. Next time, please make sure to also include a link to the relevant support doc:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/slugs/
@timethief we never said volunteers are not allowed to help users with upgrades. The only specific request we made regarding that was for users with Business Plan sites using plugins. However, nothing prevents any volunteer in this forum from giving an answer if they know it.
-
@timethief can you point us to where that idea is coming from so we can correct it at the source? Thanks in advance :)

The more I think about it the more I think kokkieh’s mention of Business plan people only rings a distant bell in the back of my mind. :(

Okay, so changing the slug was ridiculously easy as it turns out. Not sure why I thought it would be a complicated process.
That being said, how do I prevent having to change the slugs in the first place? As I said previously, I want to be able to write a rough draft, or begin to write a post, but then be able to save it as a Draft without publishing it—either as Private or Public.
I feel like on my other premium theme I could do this, so why not on this one (Gemma)? Can’t find a “save as draft” option.
Speaking of which, why doesn’t the Gemma developer every get back to me in a timely manner. Last time was four to five days, this time not at all thus far? I though we were supposed to be able to post a question in the Premium theme section and then get support directly from the theme’s developer?
In the past, I always have so what gives? Is this the same guy that would be on the live chat if I opt for that? Would he be more reponsive if I used that venue?
Finally, as to my other original question. Are post excerpts necessary/recommended? If so, do I write them like I would a teaser? Where would they appear?
Thanks for any help you can give with this. :)

Hi,
I want to be able to write a rough draft, or begin to write a post, but then be able to save it as a Draft without publishing it—either as Private or Public.
No worries. We auto save, but there’s also a “save” button the screen that you can use.
Re: support, the Gema developer is only there to help with Gema’s settings and what not. Most of your posts in that forum are not related to your theme, which is probably why they haven’t been responding as quickly.
Instead, I recommend getting in touch first with WordPress.com support. If it’s something only the theme developer can help you with, we’ll let you know.
