Hi @louisebweb!
Can you tell me a little more about what happens when you try to change your widgets?
You should be able to select them under My Site > Customize > Widgets (then choose the area you want to change the widgets for)
If that isn’t working let me know:
- exactly what you see when you try it
- what browser you’re using
- is that browser fully updated (confirm this at browsehappy.com)
- does the same thing happen if you clear your browser cache
- does the same thing happen in another browser, like Firefox or Chrome?
Let me know what you find, and we’ll see what we can do next :)

hi staff-loquaciousloon,
I’m actually not able to select them when I select the littel pen on the top of the widget and when I try to open it in the menu it doesn’t work.
I’m using internet explorer and I have already done the cleaning of my browser and effectivly it doesn’t change anything.
And I don’t understand why, beause the situation was different 2 month ago…Thank you a lot for your help :)

There have been some recent issues with the Widgets panel in the Customizer and IE11 — could you confirm whether you’re using IE11 or another version?
The workarounds are:
- Use a different browser, like Chrome or Firefox
- Use the WP Admin widgets dashboard here:
https://louisebweb.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
Let us know how it goes.

Hi. I am having similar problems. I created widgets (IE11) a few months ago, and then I was not able to edit them anymore. Then I changed theme last week, to re-create them, and it was fine until yesterday.
All the text widgets appear in the page, but I can only see one set of widgets in the edit menu (My Site > Customize > Widgets: Footer 3, but not Footer 1 or 2). The Instagram link I had there is apparently disabled and reads “Unable to retrieve images from Instagram” in the page, and I am not able to access it through the widget edit menu.
With firefox I am able to edit widgets but the problem with instagram persists -
Hi sibiloi, the widgets not displaying in IE11 is a browser-related issue similar to what louisebweb reported.
The Instagram issue is something else. The first troubleshooting step would be to disconnect and reconnect your Instagram account in your site settings. Could you give that a try and let me know how it goes?

Hi Kathrynwp
Thanks. It did the trick, now the intragram link works and it is also editable, at least through Firefox. I rather use IE11, though, let’s see if widgets get fixed -
sibiloi – glad Firefox did the trick. We’ll keep you posted when there’s a fix for IE.
louisebweb – it’s odd that the WP Admin dashboard didn’t work, as that’s worked for all the other IE users having trouble with the Customizer. Let me know how it goes with Chrome and we’ll take it from there.

The issue with seeing certain widget areas in the Customizer in IE11 should now be fixed. If you’re still having any problems, please try clearing your browser’s cache. Let me know if you continue to have any issues.
