How to change wordpress.com site name

Can I change my ‘domain’ name away from my username? When I first set up my account I couldn’t decide what to call my site and now I do know I’d like to change it, help please!

The only way to change the URL is to purchase the domain mapping upgrade and apply it to the blog. I suppose you could create a NEW blog and import your posts to it and then shut down or delete the old one.

You can change the Name of the blog, as opposed to the URL, by simply going to Dashboard->Settings->General.

RC’s reply above is correct; there is no way to change the base domain name of your blog other than creating a new one and porting your content over. You can read more about that here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-between-wordpress-com-blogs
If you purchase a domain registration or use a domain mapping upgrade, then you can get rid of the “wordpress.com” part of the URL entirely and set up your own domain.
