  How do I check what version of wordpress I am using, and how do I update to latest version.

  At present the site is not published, it is marked as private.
  Are you able to see the site if I submit the website name?

  No, but assuming it is hosted here at wordpress.COM, then you do not need to worry about versions or upgrades. Staff take care of all that for us, and we are always at least on the latest version and sometimes we are actually ahead of those with self-hosted sites. Right now we are all on 3.4, but it hasn’t been released yet.
