How to choose/change a story's featured thumbnail

  Hi, just wondering if it is possible to choose or change the thumbnail that will appear in the ‘Freshly Pressed’ section. (I don’t mean the editorialised section, I just mean among the most recent posts.) ie: When my story is published, if I search stories under a related tag, eg: ‘art’ or ‘travel’ I see my post and a featured image. I would like to be able to choose this featured image rather than have the default (chosen by WP).

  I tried doing this by using the ‘choose a featured image’ (found on the bottom-right-hand side of the editing page). What happened was it inserted a tiny thumbnail of the image chosen at the top of my story (which I deleted as it looked silly) but the default thumbnail representing my story in the most recently published posts did not change.

  is there a way to do this? ie: like choosing the featured thumbnail on a youtube video?

  No I’m sorry there is no option for you to do this. Staff make the selections of the posts and the images to display. If you have a blog theme that has featured images and set a featured image then that’s what they seem to use.
