How to classify or file my blog under a specific topic
-
I am still a newbie at this and learning as I go, so please bear with me.
My blog is genealogy related and when I do a search on WordPress.com for genealogy blogs I don’t see it listed anywhere. Is there a way to classify my blog by topic so when someone does a search for family history or genealogy blog, I am in the mix somewhere? I have been utilizing the Category feature on my posts, but I don’t have a specific “family history” or “genealogy” category, I have them as other categories at this point. Is this how we classify our entire blog? I am sure I am missing something somewhere.
Many thanks!
Marianne

Categories and Tags can only be assigned to posts, not to pages and not to entire blogs. I am astonished that there is no global tag of genealogy. http://wordpress.com/genealogy However, I used Google search and typed in this string “genealogy site:wordpress.com” and I got these results http://tinyurl.com/7ax37nz

I believe the information at these links will be helpful. Assigning Categories to posts make it easier for people to find your content.

Hi timethief,
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post!If I do a search for the topic “Genealogy” on WordPress, there are several blogs that come up, unfortunately, none of them are mine. I wasn’t sure if there was a way to classify my entire blog so when someone searched “genealogy” on WordPress, mine would be one of the ones listed.
Thank you for the links…I have since gone back and re-categorized my posts to include the words “genealogy” and “family history” in the hopes that will get my blog a little more traffic.
Sincerely,
Marianne -
