how to configure a better post editor on wordpress.com ?

    I have a free blog on wordpress.com and much as I like wordpress, the built-in post editor is a pain-in-the-neck to use! Is there ANY way to change it? Or perhaps use some other tool so I wouldn’t need to interact with it?

    Specifically, my problem is with source-code formatting in my posts. Using the HTML/text view of the editor I was able to make this;

    duplicate symbol errors with third party library

    Now, I like the end result. It just took me too long to make it (days!). Today, I was trying to make another post using the in-built WYSIWYG editor and flipping between the Visual/Text views is driving me crazy.

    I need a WYSIWYG post editor which will let me select parts of my post and label them as “source code” so that the end result looks similar to the above link AND something I can type in quickly. Does this option exist on the wordpress.com site?

    Free options/tools are preferred, but I’m willing to pay (a small amount) if necessary.

    NOTE: I’m not a web developer and don’t want to deal with administering a domain/host/server either.

    Use Windows Live Writer.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try, but the in-application preview looks horrible – can’t work with it. :(
