How to configure my WordPress.com DNS to WPengine.com

Really struggling here despite reading endless articles and YouTube videos. I’m not very tech-savvy so please bear with me!

I have a registered domain name and site with WordPress.com.

I wish to point it to wpengine.com. I have already imported my site into wpengine with WordPress.org, and just need to redirect my domain name now.

I cannot seem to find the right settings or articles on how to do this.

I’m getting mixed messages about needing custom server names (which I can’t find anyway for wpengine) and A and CNAME records.

Any specific advice on working these two platforms together would be greatly appreciated.

I’m beginning to worry that this is NOT possible.

Apologies if I have simply misunderstood the process/nomenclature.

  • Hi there,

First you need to contact support at WPEngine, and ask them for the name servers or A records you need to point your domain to them. This information should also be listed in the domain settings section of your hosting control panel with them, so you might be able to get it without having to contact them.

Once you have those records, you can follow the process at https://en.support.wordpress.com/change-name-servers/ if they need you to add name servers, or the process at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/ if they need you to add A records.

We’re also happy to make those changes for you, if you can tell us which records you need to add.
