how to connect a plug in to wordpress.com
-
Hello:
I am an admin for the UnitedCP.com website, which is hosted on wordpress.
I need to hook-up the search metrics plug-in. However, I don’t see the plug-ins option on my dashboard etc.
Thanks,

Howdy.
It looks to me like that site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but is hosted elsewhere using the WordPress software available from WordPress.org.
Can you get to this URL?
UnitedCP.com/wp-admin/plugins.php

Heya:
I get a message that states “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” when I goto that url.

Okay. So, that means your role on the site must not be administrator. Here’s some information on the various roles.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities
If you need access to admin capabilities, you can request that one of the administrators of the site change your role.
Also, just a quick mention that this forum is for the sites hosted on WordPress.com, not the WordPress sites hosted elsewhere. Here’s some info on the distinctions between the two.
Happy to help, though. Just for future reference…

PS: Here’s the link to support for the self-hosted WordPress sites.

According to the roles article, you should have authority over plugins if you’re listed as an administrator, assuming that you’re logged in using that account.
I’m wondering if there was some sort of customization that limited access.
-
I saw that too.
I am starting to think that there is some customization that’s limiting access. I had reason to think so when I was trying to do something earlier as well.
What do you suggest I do?
-
If it were me, I would contact one of the other administrators of the site, or the person who did the original site development.
-
That’s the first thing I did. Thank you so much.
Hopefully he can resolve this issue. I remember looking into changing that customization a couple of months ago. It seems as if it would be a lot easier for that person to increase my access.
