How to connect my existing wordpress site?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I already have a wordpress.com website. However, this does not show up under ‘My Site’. When I click on My Site, it shows ‘You don’t have any wordpress sites as yet.’
I also have JetPack installed on my site, yet I am not able to find out how to link my existing site to this WP.com account. This is also needed for using Publicize and viewing more site statistics. Please help. Thank you.

  • Hi there!

What is the address of the site you’d like to connect to your WordPress.com account?

  • Thanks for the additional info!

The site w3coach.com appears to be a self-hosted WordPress (also called “.org”) site hosted on GoDaddy Web Hosting, and not a site hosted on our WordPress.com service.

Sounds like you are using Jetpack on that site however, yes? From what I can see w3coach.com is connected to our system via Jetpack, but it is connected to a different login that the one you are using here.

Is it possible you have another account with us? From what I see @mehernoshw3 is a new account with us (about 5 days old) but the your other account has been connected to us for some time (a few years)

With this in mind I recommend that you log out of this account and instead log in to your other WordPress.com account; if you do you will see w3coach.com under “My Site” as expected.

Do you remember the username or email you used with your other WordPress.com account? if so you can reset your password here: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have another account, which should have been associated to this website. The account is (email visible only to moderators and staff). Thats also the admin account for this website.
But I am facing the same issue in that account too. It doesnt show up under “My Sites”. I get the same message there as well – “You don’t have any wordpress sites as yet”.
    Please advise.

  • Thats also the admin account for this website.

What email address you’re using for the admin account on the site itself is not really relevant here – we have no access to that information, and it has no effect at all on the Jetpack connection for the site. The only email address that’s relevant is the one used on the WordPress.com account to which you connected Jetpack, and http://www.w3coach.com is not connected to the WordPress.com account with that email.

It looks like that WordPress.com account was connected to the site at some point, but that connection was removed more than three years ago, and that account was never the owner of the Jetpack connection.

The original owner of the Jetpack connection is also the account that currently still has that connection.

We cannot give you information about the account that owns the Jetpack connection, but if you don’t remember any other accounts, and you want to connect Jetpack to one of your current WordPress.com accounts, log into WP-Admin on your site and disconnect Jetpack. Then reconnect it while logged into the WordPress.com account you want to use going forward. That should move ownership of the Jetpack connection to the new account.
