How to contact support on personal plan

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve just upgraded my plan from free to personal. The features of ‘personal’ listed email support as a feature, but I can’t find any way to contact support. The help option in my dashboard sends me to the forum. It does, occasionally, bring up a link to a contact form for personal plans, but the link is broken.

I’m looking on the wordpress.com site, but the link there to a contact form simply send me back to my dashboard, which sends me back to the forum.

    Can someone help, please? Thanks!

For the sake of clarity – where I say it occasionally brings up a broken link, it’s the quick response bot that does so. Sometimes the bot shows up; sometimes it doesn’t.

  • Hey there,

Many thanks for reaching out and providing that feedback.

Support can always be found via this link: https://wordpress.com/help/contact – out of curiosity, was this the link you’re finding and the one that’s broken? If yes, what did you see exactly? I just want to double check that all is well.

Additionally, what were you reaching out for help with? I can do my best to help via these forums.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Speak soon!

Hi, and thanks so much for replying. When I followed your link, the email support option is showing. When I opened a new dashboard window just now and went to help from there, I also got the email option. It wasn’t there yesterday, despite trying multiple times. My best guess is that I was impatient and perhaps my upgraded plan took a little while to feed through… (I did clear WordPress.com caches in my browser a few times, so I don’t think it was that.)

Because I now have a different help option showing up, I’m afraid I can’t tell you exactly what it was I saw before. It was the part of the post that told me if I was on a personal plan to go to a particular page where there would be a contact form. The link in the text appeared to end at ahref. Not sure if that’s any help at all!

Thanks so much for offering to help. I’m trying to find the privacy policy template that should be under the privacy tab under settings in the dashboard, according to this WordPress.com help page. I have no privacy tab showing under settings. I’ve had a dig around in each of the options that are showing, but can’t see anything there. I’d be so grateful for your help.

    Hi there!

Thanks for trying to replicate the issue. It sounds like it might have been a glitch. But I’m glad to hear that you see the email option now.

As for the Privacy tab, only plugin-enabled sites on the Business plan and higher have that option. Because plugin-enabled sites are slightly different than regular WordPress.com sites, some features are available only when plugins are enabled. You can learn more about it here.

However, we suggest using our Privacy Policy as a template. Our Privacy Policy as a template is far better than the built-in template generator you’re looking for. That one mostly includes suggested text and mainly suggests what to include.

We release our Privacy Policy under a Creative Commons Sharealike license, which means you’re more than welcome to copy it, adapt it, and repurpose it for your own use.

Make sure to revise the language so that your policy reflects your actual practices. Simply copy-pasting the entire page as-is is not recommended.

There are also many free privacy policy generator services online that you can use to create a privacy policy for your needs.

When you have the text, you can create a new page, title it “Privacy Policy,” publish it, and add a link somewhere on your site.

    Hope that helps!

Hey @aisajib Since GO is a WordPress.com product and shared throughout this site, perhaps your information on what simple WordPress.com sites can do to add a Privacy Policy to their own site should be included, or at least a link included to our own Support Guide?

Thank you for this. I confess I was hoping for something a little simpler than the page you linked to, but I’ve now drawn up something that I believe is fit for purpose. I do appreciate your response.
