How to contain featured image in a crop for Heiwa theme?
-
I’ve been using the Heiwa theme on a test site but realized that on single post pages, the featured images are not contained to a crop. If I use a portrait-orientated image it shows the entire height of it even though I just need it to crop into a short landscape banner.
Is there a way to automate this instead of having to manually crop every photo I use for blog posts? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @studio17soleil, sorry about the “test commenter” there. I’m not sure why they chose to test with your post.

I’m not aware of current featured image cropping tools, but would you like to add featured images as cover blocks instead? This is a little advanced, but I can try to walk you through with a little video:
https://supportmedia.tech.blog/2022/05/28/switching-featured-image-to-a-cover-block/You’ll want to mind the options for alignment, overlays, etc. You can even use an overlay and put the post title over the cover (be sure to change its alignment and color, too.)
One limitation: I don’t think the full site editor is currently able to remove the block based on whether there is a featured image, so I’d only recommend this option if you intend to use featured images every time.
Hoping this helps!
