How to control my followers' email content?
-
Hello,
Is there a way to change the content of the emails that my followers receive when I make a new post? For example, instead of having the entire post sent to them, could I change it so that only a few lines are sent with a “click here to keep reading” link that takes them to the post? I would like to have it so that they navigate to the page to read the post instead of having the entire post in their email.
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes. You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here > Settings > Reading
Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feedThat does not affect the length of the post displayed on the front page or main page for posts on the blog. To create excerpts there we can split content by inserting “the more tag” http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
It’s a good choice to make because likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as in email and the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. It’s only when a visitor click into the site that a page view stat is created.

Will either the summary setting or the “more tag” change the content of the emails that my followers receive? If I use the “more tag,” will the email that is sent out have the truncated version or the full post?

The email to subscribers are derived from the RSS Feed which I explained you need to set to summary above in order to achieve what you want.
