how to convert photo to http for custom banner?
-
Hi, I want to use a photograph from my hard drive as my custom banner. BUT, I don’t know how to give it an URL. I am using Mac. Please help!

dashboard–>design–>custom header image
then this allows you to upload & crop an image
your theme must also support header images, some do not.

Right. I’m already to that point, and there is a space for the URL (no browse button). So, how do I assign my image an url?? I DO have a theme that supports custom banners. I should mention I do have photoshop; I have cropped my image to the right size. Just not sure how to actually put it in there in wordpress in the “url” box. Make sense??

What theme are you using? You should see a box, with “Choose an image from your computer” above it and a browse button next to it.

I am using the Regulus theme; I chose it because I thought I could use a custom header. I don’t have a box that says “choose an image…” w/ a browse button. What I see is–
Under Current Theme Options> Header Settings> “To use your own header image enter the complete url into the Header Image URL box below – eg “http://www.yoursite.com/yourfile.jpg”. To fill the header area completely you should make the image 730 pixels wide by 140 pixels high. Any smaller and the image will tile. To use one of the supplied images simply leave this box blank and select the image from the drop down.”
Then from there it has a box that says “Header Image URL”. There is no browse button.
My blog url is http://www.kerrymills.wordpress.com. Thanks for looking into this!

You know what…I’ve been messing around, and I’m just going to change my theme. Other themes work much better. Thanx!

It’s easy, actually. Just upload the image on the Write page, as if you were going to put it in a post. Copy the URL from there.
