How to copy (back up) site files/images etc?

    Good afternoon. I am a WP newbie.

    I have created some files in a test wordpress.com site which I’m playing with to learn WP.
    I’m trying (unsuccessfully) to find where these files are stored so that I can copy them (back up) to a memory stick (or similar) for safe keeping. Could anyone help please? Thank you.
