How to copy paste to create a new blog.

  I like to write on my iPhone’s notepad and get my post the way I want before I copy and paste my blog. It seems WordPress is not letting me paste my writing into a new post for my blog. I click in the area to post/write and when I try to paste it does nothing. I’m using the free version to test this out but if I can’t paste I’m not going to purchase the full version. Please let me know how to copy paste or if this isn’t possible with this blog. Thank you!

  Hey Traci,

  Sorry to hear you’re having that trouble! When you write on your iPhone and add to the notepad app, then you copy:

  1. Can you paste that text into another application? I just want to confirm the copy/paste function is working elsewhere. Thanks!
  2. Also, are you using the most update version of the WordPress.com app on your phone in order to post to your blog? If not, you can download it here:
     

     Download Apps for WordPress.com

  3. Finally, did you know that when you use your app, you can save a draft to make sure you have everything ‘just right’ before publishing? You don’t need to publish automatically. Just a heads up! :)

  Yes, I can copy paste in other applications and yes it is the latest verson of WordPress.

  Thanks for checking in and giving me those details.

  I just did a test — typed something in notepad, highlighted the entire text, went to the WordPress app, opened a new post, and pasted the text. So, I do know the iOS app does accept the copy/paste function.

  Let’s see if we can investigate why it isn’t working on your phone!

  I’ve done some research and have found some issues with the copy/paste function on iOS 8.1. One user appears to have found a fix:

  I’ve also found this link to some workarounds that might suit you:

  Please let me know how these steps work out for you. I know I’ve had problems with copy/paste pasting OLD iOS clipboard content into apps…but I don’t recall having NO paste function whatsoever. Let me know how it works out and how I can help further.

  I’m also wondering if logging into your WordPress.com account in Safari, rather than in the WordPress app, might give you paste-ability. I’m curious about this as Notepad and Safari are apps native to the iPhone.
