How to correct Error: message on website Twitter Feed
-
I’m receiving a “<p>Error: Twitter did not respond. Please wait a few minutes and refresh this page”. message on my website. This has been going on for a few days and i would like to know what i need to do to correct so my Twitter feeds begin appearing in my website again. Any support you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We cannot provide support to any blogger who fails to post a URL as we don’t have a clue which site they are referring to until they do that. Please do that now.

Thanks for your note. I’m new to the forum so don’t know how to go back and update. This message is in regards to the site i manage at http://www.toan.ca. You’ll notice the error message in the site footer. Thanks in advance for any support you can offer up!

Hello again,
That site is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog. It is a WordPress.org install. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have separate logins. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens there. -
Thanks! I’m so frustrated because i’ve registered and I’m not getting login details/access at WordPress.org. So hoped I’d get success over here. Trying to troubleshoot on my own and it’s been a challenge. Thanks again for lending your support. I’ll keep trying over there!

I’m sorry but the two sites are completely separate.
My own experience of trying to get assistance at WordPress.ORG was so bad that it bordered on unbelievable.

Ugh! Well, that’s horrible to hear. Interesting how the WordPress.com registration and support system worked like a charm by the .org system is such a failure! I’ll hope for the best…and keep trying.
Thanks again for being so helpful and responsive! This experience makes me want to set up a Blog site! ;) Have a great rest of the day!

@andrea, wordpress.org is merely where the WordPress software lives – i.e. for downloading and hosting yourself or having someone host it for you. As such, you don’t need (nor does there exist AFAIK) login details/access.
I doubt you’re having a problem with the core wordpress software. It’s more likely to be a problem with the install or with subsequent install/use of a plugin of some sort.
So, you need to get support from whoever is hosting your blog. Do you know who that is?
-
Thanks for your response! WordPress.org does appear to have a forum that offers support but I can’t seem to register and still waiting for login details that never seem to arrive – http://wordpress.org/support/.
In any case, I agree – I believe it’s a problem with the plugin and/or it needs updating. I want to see if anyone has seen this issue before i attempt to update things on our site. I do have a developer who can assist if required but if this is a simple fix I’d like to try and do it myself.
Thanks again for your help! Greatly appreciated!

As an adjunct to the main wp.org support, consider the stackexchange site: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/ I haven’t used it, but SE sites, especially for things as widely used as WP, are usually among the best around.
But it may not be the plugin itself. Are you happy you got the Twitter side right and that you provided the right info to your blog so it can talk Twitter-ese?

Thanks! Quite honestly…this whole error message thing has stumped me. We’ve never had any issues with our Twitter feed and the error message just appeared quite suddenly with no explanation. Perhaps Twitter made some recent update and/or my site needs an update.
I’ll give that link a try. Thanks again!

OK. FWIW, I just got my Twitter feed going on my own blog and it’s working fine. I’m on wp.com though, and presumably they of all people know how to get wp going, but it does at least show that Twitter itself is behaving itself. Good luck.
