How to create a blog without publishing it for some time?

    Hello!

    I am planning to create a blog, but I would like to work with it for some time (layout, texts, pictures) before actually “publishing” it. So what I want is to actually have a “secret” blog for some time while preparing it. Is it possible to either

    a) create a blog but keep it hidden for everyone else until I would like to “publish” it,

    and/or

    b) create a blog an put up a temporally front page that says something like “this blog will be published on (fill in date here)”.

    Hi there,
    (a) To change blog visibility to Private go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

    (b) Don’t change the privacy settings and create a static front page with the notice on it instead. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

    P.S. I wouldn’t do either one as it takes weeks for search engines to index content. I don’t share the URL. I leave the blog visibility public and proceed.
