How to Create a Child Theme of a Child Theme

    We are using a theme called Supreme Directory of the plugin GeoDirectory. But we need to make changes to files, even header.php. But Supreme Directory is a child theme of a theme called Directory Starter.

    The problem is, Supreme Directory is a theme maintained and updated by the developers of GeDirectory I believe. Therefore they release updates to it. Any changes we make to header.php for example is overwritten by the updates.

    In my opinion this is the wrong usage of a child theme, it should either not be a child theme as we cannot modify it (the purpose of child themes) or we should be able to have a child of a child theme.

    So therefore how can we create a child of a child theme?

    For info the blog I need help with is not what is listed above, I do not know where that came from and there is no Edit option for some reason.

    Hi. I don’t think I need to provide the development URL, the question would be applicable to any child theme and probably wont be in relation to what you see on the website but behind the scenes. Thanks.

    I requested for your site URL to verify that whether u r a WordPress.com user or WordPress.org user.

    But as I can see that you have mentioned about header.php in your question, that means your site is not hosted on WordPress.com.

    Its a non WordPress.com website. Its a self installed wordpress site.

    But Ok thanks, I wasn’t aware sorry as I just searched for “WordPress support”.
