how to create a contents page

  • Unknown's avatar

I now have 52 stories of educational value on my blog. I want to create a contents list that looks a bit like the list of stories that I can see when I access my ‘manage posts’. I have created a list of categories on a page, but I do not know how to insert the titles and subject matter of my stories underneath them. They would have to link to the stories on the blog of course. Any help please? Thanks from Tessa at yogastories

Why don’t you just write it in?

You just need to create a page, possibly titled “Table of Contents,” and then put in 52 links to your stories. It’s a bit of work, but once done it’s easy to keep it updated.

The titles are long, with explanations included, there are 52 of them, and they would not link in to the content if I did just write them in. Also I only type slowly, even if I could find a way of linking them. If I could copy and paste AND link that would be perfect.. but how? T

Yes you can copy and paste and link at once. You need to have two windows open in your browser: front of your blog in the one, VISUAL page editor in the other. Then you simply drag and drop each post title from the blog to the editor.

(Note that with wp 2.7 there’s a change in the defaults, and that might make this not work. So first upload an image and make sure that its URL shows up before inserting it in the post, otherwise click “File URL” to make the editor remember that having links is your preference.)

Thanks a lot. I’ll try it tomorrow. xx
