How to create a gallery with only a link to the photos?

    How do you create a gallery in your post with a LINK to the photos rather than all photos displayed in the post.
    I accomplished this several times in my posts but have forgotten how I achieved it . Those posts state, ” This gallery contains xxx numbers of photos ” with a link to the photos.
